Hannah van Mook
Lawyer
hvanmook@infinity-law.comHannah grew up in Pemberton BC, way before it was cool. She travelled all the way to the East Coast to start her undergraduate degree because she felt like going on an adventure. She met her now-spouse there, and convinced him to move back to the West Coast, where she completed her BSc. in Psychology at the University of Victoria. She then continued to complete her MSc. in cognition, mostly in an attempt to figure out what she wanted to be when she grew up. After honing her vocal and keyboard skills in the local music scene in Victoria for a while, she ended up going for the trifecta and completing her law degree at the University of Victoria as well.
During law school, Hannah focused on ways to apply her background in psychology to her legal career. She contributed to the Trauma Informed Toolkit published by Golden Eagle Rising Society and Trauma-Informed Law: A Primer for Practicing Lawyers and a Pathway for Resilience and Healing, published by the American Bar Association. During her final term of law school, Hannah worked as a temporary articled student at the UVic Law Centre, which provides advice, assistance, and representation to low-income clients out of the Victoria Courthouse.
Hannah then moved to Alberta for three years to "try it out" and ran her own law practice in wills, estates, real estate, and family law before the ocean pulled her back home. While in Alberta, she flipped two houses with her spouse and swears she will never do it again (she will).
She is an advocate for the mental well-being of her clients and brings a compassionate approach to her practice. She is a former member of the Alberta Family Mediation Society and an affiliate member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Canada.
Outside of work, Hannah likes to make honey-do lists and explore the outdoors with her three raptors a.k.a. Australian Cattle Dogs. Although her Dad once played pro golf, she can barely swing a club.
